Digital Pen & Paper: How Does it Work?

The digital pen captures the information that is written on the forms and also stores an image of the forms.

The digital pen transfers the data written on the forms in a secure, encrypted format through a USB or Bluetooth connection.

The data are processed on AssistMed's server.

For every form, three files are produced from the data captured:
   1.  A PDF image of the original handwritten form
   2.  A PDF image of the handwriting-recognized form
   3.  An XML file of the form data captured

The completed forms are available online for review and editing/sign-off or are exported to a clinical or billing system.

Form data can be exported into specific fields into multiple recipient systems.

The files can be distributed to other caregivers or healthcare facilities - to a referring physician or to a billing company.

The form data distribution is form specific, not practice or facility dependent.
     •  In a medical office setting, a superbill can be digitally sent to a billing company, while an authorization form can be sent to a payer.
     •  In a hospital setting, a copy of the form can be routed to the pharmacy, while another copy can be routed to the medical records department.
